Is Chinese Drywall Making Habitat for Humanities New Orleans Houses Uninhabitable? - ProPublica

The Chinese drywall problem has largely been attributed to widespread greed among the Nation's home builders.  While greed certainly played a role in the problem, sheer ignorance of the issue was likely more at fault.  The truth is that most of the companies who supplied and installed this drywall simply did not know.  While Chinese products have certainly caused issues in the past, defective drywall was a new problem in and of itself.

One would be hard pressed to challenge the motives of such a well known humanitarian/philanthropic organization.  Habitat for Humanity is well respected and well established, but even they fell victim to the Chinese drywall problems.  Unfortunately, at least for the time being, the home owners and occupants are left to deal with the consequences.  This stuff is everywhere.
