Chinese Drywall Inspection Types

Chinese Drywall Testing Options:

Option lll        Full Inspection

  • Full initial visual inspection Plus extraction of wallboard material sufficient for laboratory analysis of Elemental Sulfur. Shipping and handling of sample material included.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Elemental Sulfur levels in samples of drywall found in the home exceeding 10 PPM or (mg/Kg) are considered to be of reactive/problematic drywall.
This investigation includes Laboratory Certification and multi-page laboratory report.

We provide comprehensive services for material wallboard sample extraction. Our protocol for removing material for laboratory testing is unique. We collect clean substrate material from a majority of wallboards. Our protocol is non-invasive. We do not make holes in walls in order to obtain sufficient substrate for sample material.

  • Sample Analysis final text reports are produced by the facilitating laboratory and made available to client by USHIC. The (TAT) turn around time for laboratory testing and test reports are made available in the time frame agreed to prior to inspection date. Normal TAT Is (5) working days. A 48 hour TAT is available at a 100% mark-up.  TAT starts the day sample arrives at laboratory.

OPTION ll - Visual Investigation w/Report of Findings and photographs

Our task is to locate undeniable signs of copper corrosion both in the preliminary and advanced stages within certain electrical and mechanical systems. Findings are photographed in macro- detail and gathered as corroborating evidence where a conclusion may be made of the existence or non existence of problematic and reactive drywall being present in the structure.

Our Visual/Mechanical Inspection of the structure includes documentation substantiated by photographs. Evidence is obtained specifically of copper corrosion relating to reactive/problematic imported drywall in homes constructed  between the years 2001 and 2008. Elements of the interior inspection include:

  • HVAC SYSTEM(S) interior and exterior tubing
  • Electrical wiring at socket locations
  • Electrical breaker panel box
  • Appliances when present
  • Plumbing

At the conclusion of this visual/mechanical inspection should inspector conclude the presence of corroborating evidence to substantiate concerns regarding the presence of reactive drywall, Client will be informed and given option to have wall board sample material extracted and laboratory testing performed while inspector is still on  premises. A USHIC "Report of Findings" plus photographs will be emailed to you in timely manner.

Option l - Basic Visual Investigation: "Opinion of Findings"

Our task with this basic investigation is to locate undeniable signs of copper corrosion both in the preliminary and advanced stages. These findings are documented as corroborating evidence and a non binding opinion of the inspector at the time of inspection is given on the spot.

This inspection can assist those who are in the inspection phase of the purchase contract and are in need of an immediate opinion of findings.
