Chinese Drywall Inspection Methods

It is estimated that more than 100,000 homes have been affected by the use of Chinese drywall that was involved in the construction of houses over a period of four years. This means that any house that was constructed during this time should ideally be inspected to establish the presence of Chinese drywall in homes. The hydrogen sulfide gases that are generated by defective Chinese drywall cause black residue to form on metal compounds and produce a distinct pungent smell that most people are unable to handle.

The black residue results in the failure of home appliances such as air conditioning units and refrigerators. Chinese drywall is also believed to have the potential to cause health problems that are associated with the sulfur gas emissions. A Chinese drywall inspection involves the undertaking of Chinese drywall tests and recommendations on how it can be removed and dealt with. The gas that is produced by Chinese drywall is sucked into air conditioning units where copper lines are present.

The corrosive effect of the gas makes the copper weak and the system eventually fails to function. Constant repairs or replacements of air conditioning units serve no purpose as long as the defective Chinese drywall is still present. It is necessary for the Chinese drywall to be completely removed for any positive changes to occur.

Houses that have Chinese drywall have been tainted and stigmatized.
This makes it virtually impossible for homeowners to consider reselling their houses. Even getting home insurance coverage proves to be a challenge once it is established that a structure has Chinese drywall. Most insurance providers have clauses that do not cover property damage that has been caused by defective building materials.
This essentially means that the damage caused by the drywall is not covered by insurance.

Specialized equipment is used during Chinese drywall inspection.
Before making an attempt to purchase any house that was built during the documented construction boom period, it is paramount for individuals to carry out a Chinese drywall inspection in states such as Florida, Mississippi, Virginia and Louisiana.

The most common aspect of visual inspections is air conditioning units because the corrosive effect is easily identifiable in these systems.
When the air conditioners do not work, residents are often uncomfortable and the problem cannot be rectified because the sulfur gases continue to be emitted. The increased risk of electrical fires is yet another issue of concern that warrants a Chinese drywall inspection.
