Chinese Drywall Problems

Gases that are emitted by toxic Chinese drywall cause a number of problems. The problem of corrosion in homes is linked to the presence of Chinese drywall that is defective. The defective drywall produces a high level of sulfur gas that is encouraged by air humidity and causes the interior environment of a home to be corrosive. This creates the issue of metal corrosion and virtually all metallic home appliances can be affected by the sulfur gases.

Electronic devices such as computers and televisions tend to stop functioning when they are continuously exposed to the toxic gases.
Other appliances that are significantly affected include air conditioners, washing machines and refrigerators. The hot season makes the problem even worse and the financial implication of failed appliances is often too much for homeowners to bear. It is not uncommon to discover that other metal objects like door knobs, jewelry and mirrors have been extensively corroded.

Insurance companies do not typically cover the damage that Chinese drywall reportedly causes. This means that any damage experienced is a financial burden to the owner who must cater for replacement and repair costs that are incurred. Copper wiring is affected by the corrosive effect of sulfur gases and this makes the wiring unable to receive electrical currents.

Electrical current resistance makes the amount of heat used by the wiring system to rise significantly, which can in turn cause electrical fires. The fact that this can cause a house to burn down is a serious issue that cannot be ignored. The combination of humid air and sulfur gases creates hydrogen sulfide. High levels of hydrogen sulfide are considered dangerous and can cause adverse health situations. Lengthy periods of exposure to the gas can cause serious health problems that are related to the respiratory tract system. The health hazard is probably worse for small children in the home.

The pungent smell that is sulfur based gas is well known for makes homes uninhabitable and many people complain about their inability to sleep well because the stench keeps them awake. Exposure to the gases that exceeds the acceptable limit can have serious effects on the human body?s central nervous system. All these issues also pose an extensive financial challenge that many homeowners are unable to cope with. They have to deal with expensive repairs or replacements of their appliances, costly Chinese drywall removal and medical bills for people who suffer from Chinese drywall related ailments.
