In the early days of the issue, it was the way to go but as the (CPSC) Consumer Product Safety Commission stated in their Intrim Guidance Report as of august 27, 2011 they clearly changed their opinion. And they state that the XRF device although a method of obtaining levels of Strontium in wallbord Strontium is no longer a marker to determine if wall board is compromised. It's now all about finding reactive to Elemental sulfur.
The XRF device in-itself is a efficient device capable of measuring a whole lot of things. We know, we have one, But after the (CPSC) came out with their August 2010 report, we simply had to make a decision and not use it for the wall board issue. It is not a device we can believe in for the problem of Reactive drywall. It simply doesn't test for Elemetal sulfur and after all is said, It is all about Elemental Sulfur. Don't be fooled by how someone can come into the home and shoot the walls and know for sure if the boards are compromised. An attorney won't accept a Strontium based test and that's what the XRF gives.
